Over-Development

As with many communities throughout our city, over-development has taken a devastating toll on the aesthetic beauty of our neighborhoods. In many instances, we can only watch as our history is torn to the ground and in its place, multi-dwelling developments are built. The result of unchecked development has overburdened government programs and services. Our schools are overcrowded, traffic has become a nightmare, our water and sewer system is over utilized and has caused flooding.

The City Council must step in immediately and pass zoning regulations and laws to save what is left of the character of our community. It is now the time to prevent unscrupulous developers from tearing down one family residential homes and erecting multi-family dwellings in their place. The future generations of Queens residents deserve to have the opportunity to enjoy the history of their community. Unless change is implemented now, we will have missed the chance to preserve the beauty and rich history of our community forever.
